About Dave Brown
A Little About Myself
Hi, I’m Dave Brown.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked directly with children and families in a variety of roles and settings. I’ve been a Therapist, Counselor, Camp Director and Trainer. I’ve worked in treatment centers, schools, nonprofits and summer camps.
I support individuals and organizations in a few ways:
- Online, asynchronous training courses
Live training, presentations, and keynotes
Consulting and Strategic Planning
- Private practice tele-therapy and coaching
My Mission
To curate, distill, and share the best ideas, tools and techniques from the fields of social science, mental health, and youth development for the benefit of children and young adults.
This includes best practices for knowing ourselves, building interpersonal relationships, developing personal and professional skills, and creating holistic communities of care and well-being.
Why Is It Called Fence Post Learning?
Life can be hard, growth can be messy, the world can be confusing.
As we navigate this brief, temporary, and ever-changing bit of life we get, I believe we all need to define our own personal fence posts; the values that we drive deep into the soil to ground us.
If we are wise and intentional about where we plant these foundational values, we can then construct our boundaries around them.
Our boundaries are the fences we build around our posts, to decide where we stand, what matters to us…what we seek connection to, or wish to distance ourselves from.
